SIMULATION RESULT

MIAMI 3, PHILADELPHIA 0

The problems continue for the Philadelphia Phillies and it's not just the real-life boys who are having problems hitting. Ricky Nolasco pitched a complete two-hit game shutout on Sunday aftrernoon and the only offense the Marlins needed in this one was a two-run blast by Gaby Sanchez in the 5th inning. Nolasco wasn't flashy by any means but he got the job done and he kept his pitch count decent despite finishing with 122 pitches thrown for the shutout. Jimmy Rollins, Placido Polanco and Chase Utley went a combined 0 for 8 and if you throw Shane Victorino in there as well, you have an 0 for 11 day for your brighest stars. Not good. Hanley Ramirez and Omar Infante each had two hits in this one but again it was Gaby Sanchez's blast that won it. That Home Run was the end of the line for Blanton in this game as he lasted only 5.0 innings of work, walked 3 batters and allowed 3 Earned Runs. I bet Philadelphia didn't expect to run into such great pitching when they showed up here earlier last week.

PLAY: Miami Marlins ML -120

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Gaby Sanchez (Miami) 1-4, HR, 2 RBI, R

CLEVELAND 2, BALTIMORE 0

It's not often we go back-to-back on games in a series, let alone on the very same pick as the day before but the simulation calls for Baltimore to continue their struggles at the plate and to continue their struggles as an overall unit. Assuming Carlos Santana is still out for the Indians with his sore back we started Catcher Lou Marson again (he came a HR shy of the cycle on Saturday) and Marson has huge again knocking out a 2-Run Home Run in the 5th inning, pretty much the one and only mistake Baltimore starter Brian Matusz made all game. Matusz was solid striking out 5 batters and going 6.0 strong innings of 6 hit ball but again without the power support good outings go to waste. Asdrubal Cabrera had 3 hits for the Indians and the bottom five in the batting order combined for 6 total hits. Justin Masterson was masterful going 8.0 strong innings, striking out 4 and allowing only 5 hits in a nice shutout. He deserves the PLAYER OF THE GAME award and the Indians bats continue to spit fire and venom.

PLAY: Cleveland Indians ML -107

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Justin Masterson (Cleveland), 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 4 K

Here is the play they had for Sunday Night baseball

SIMULATION RESULT

NY METS 1, LA DODGERS 0

And that completes the sweep! That's right a four game sweep of the Dodgers for the Mets and they did it with tremendous pitching from their starting staff. This time it was Dillon Gee who was the star going 6.0 innings, allowing 0 runs and allowing only 3 hits while walking none and striking out 4 batters. The bullpen did a good job too and the Dodgers managed only 3 hits the entire game in this one. The Mets on the other hand were swinging their bats as they managed 8 hits in all but it was a team effort of small ball that got them the win here as 6 different batters managed hits. Clayton Kershaw did all he could and all a star pitcher can do going 8.0 innings, allowing 7 hits and striking out 6 batters while allowing only 1 run in the process but like has been the case with the Dodgers quite a bit as of late, a great pitching performance from one of their starters has not been enough to win and now it's crisis time for this team. The price is pretty high but well worth it on a team that is firing on all cylinders right now.

PLAY: New York Mets ML +136

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Dillon Gee (NY Mets) 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 K
